Weaving Workshop

  • Made of Leaves 195 New York Avenue Jersey City, NJ, 07307 United States (map)

Workshop description:

Learn the basics of frame loom weaving in this beginner weaving workshop.  During this class led by Courtney Salerno (@madeby_cjk) you'll create your own woven wall hanging and learn:

-how to set up the warp thread on a loom

-weaving stitches including rya knots, rya loops, tabby weave, pile weave, and soumak weave

-how to add fringe

-how to weave with fibers of various weights and textures

You'll leave with a small wall hanging and the skills to create more on your own.  Registration includes all the materials necessary to make a small wall hanging, including a handmade loom, warp thread, weaving shuttle, needle, yarn and dowel for hanging.  Courtney will bring completed pieces for examples and inspiration.  Please note that weaving can be slow going.  If you do not complete the project during class, you'll leave with the skills needed to finish on your own. Tickets are $85.
